Request for Proposal (RFP) for Steel Fabrication and Erection Services Project Overview:

Project Overview:

We are seeking proposals from qualified steel fabricators and erection firms. The project is located at 628 Red Lane Road Birmingham, AL 35215 and involves the fabrication and erection of structural and miscellaneous steel components for a building expansion and renovation project.

Scope of Work:

The selected firm will be responsible for the following:

Fabrication Phase:

  • Shop Drawings

  • Fabrication of structural steel components according to project specifications.

  • Quality control and assurance throughout the fabrication process.

  • Coordination with other trades to ensure timely delivery of fabricated steel.

Erection Phase:

  • Erection of structural steel components on-site.

  • Coordination with the general contractor and other trades for efficient and safe installation.

  • Adherence to project schedule and safety standards.

Post-Installation Phase:

  • Quality assurance after steel erection.

  • Rectification of any issues identified during inspections.

Proposal Requirements:

Interested firms should submit a comprehensive proposal that includes the following:

  1. Company Profile: Provide an overview of your company, including years in business, relevant experience, and key personnel. Minimum ten years continuous in business.

  2. Experience and Qualifications: Provide information on your experience with five similar projects, including examples of past work.

  3. Timeline: Provide a proposed timeline for fabrication and erection, including key milestones and completion dates. Assume a May 1st Release Date.

  4. Budget: Provide a detailed budget for the fabrication and erection services, including all costs associated with labor, materials, equipment, and any other relevant expenses.

  5. References: Provide at least three references from past clients for similar projects.

  6. Bond Cost: Provide cost of a performance and payment bond on the full scope of work.

Contractor Requirements:

  • Ten years in business continuous under the same name

  • Five Completed projects of similar size and scope.

  • Within the last five years, has any officer or principal of your organization ever been an officer or principal of another organization when it failed to complete a construction contract? (If the answer is yes, please attach details.)

  • Has your organization ever failed to complete any work awarded to it?

  • Are there any judgments, claims, arbitration proceedings or suits pending or outstanding against your organization or its officers?

  • Has your organization filed any law suits or requested arbitration with regard to construction contracts within the last five years?

  • Able to provide a Performance and Payment Bond for the full cost of the scope of work.

  • Can provide insurance at the following limits:

    • Workers Compensation: $1,000,000

    • Auto: $1,000,000

    • General Liability:

      • $1,000,000 per occurrence

      • $3,000,000 general aggregate

      • $2,000,000 Products

Pre-Bid Meeting: All interested bidders are not required to attend the Pre-Bid Meeting held April 16th but are encouraged to attend. Pre-Bid Meeting will be held at the project site 628 Red Lane Road Birmingham, AL 35215 at 10 a.m. central standard.
